Harnessing a long-standing reputation for industry-aligned engineering education, the University of Plymouth prioritizes the transition from academic study to professional practice. This foundation-year entry route is engineered to build the technical foundation and confidence necessary for success in the dynamic field of civil engineering, ensuring students are well-prepared for the rigors of the industry.

The curriculum is deeply embedded with professional development, boasting a 95% graduate employment or further study rate (DiscoverUni, 2020-21). Students benefit from a direct connection to the civil engineering sector, receiving practical guidance that bridges the gap between classroom theory and real-world application.

Industry-Integrated Learning

We focus on cultivating the next generation of chartered engineers through a robust engagement framework, including:

• Regular site visits to active infrastructure projects.
• Guest lectures from industry professionals and practitioners.
• Dedicated opportunities for work placements to refine practical skills.
• Exposure to diverse civil specialisms including water, highway, nuclear, and geotechnical engineering.

By fostering these meaningful industry connections, the programme ensures that graduates are not only academically qualified but also possess the professional network and practical experience required to excel in both public and private sector roles globally.
