Journeyperson Certificate and Advanced Diploma in Carpentry

This apprenticeship programme takes four years to complete. It combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction. Eight weeks each year are spent on campus in fully equipped shops. Practical skills are learned during these weeks. The rest of the time is spent working under supervision in construction settings. Classes are held Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. The programme is delivered on-campus with structured schedules.

Construction methods, blueprint reading, safety regulations, and building codes are studied. Each year includes theory and hands-on projects. A provincial exam must be passed. Practical projects require a minimum grade of 70% to progress. The curriculum covers wood, steel, and other materials used in building and repair work.

The programme starts on October 26, 2026. Registration opens on May 27, 2026. Academic requirements include ELA 30-2, Math 30-3, and a science course. Qualification is also possible through the GED or AIT entrance exam. Upon completion, a Journeyperson Certificate and an Advanced Diploma are earned. These allow work across Canada with a Red Seal endorsement.
