About Carpentry

The programme finishes with a two-week work placement, allowing students to apply their skills on real sites and often leading to a full-time offer. Over the 32-week certificate you develop practical abilities in tools, construction documents, site layout, framing, roof coverings and interior finish work, all under the guidance of a certified journeyperson carpenter.

Graduates leave with the qualifications to work for general contractors, subcontractors, housing builders, or in maintenance departments of schools, health districts and government agencies. The credential may also provide credit towards apprenticeship training and a pathway to the Bachelor of Applied Management degree for journeypersons.
