Üsküdar University

Bachelor in Chemical Engineering

İstanbul, Turkey Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Chemical Engineering focuses on converting raw materials into valuable products through the design and operation of chemical processes, drawing on chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Students study reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, fluid and heat transfer, process design, and separation methods, gaining the tools needed to scale reactions from laboratory bench work to full industrial plants. Coursework commonly covers mass and energy balances, process simulation, plant safety, and environmental considerations tied to chemical manufacturing. Laboratory work forms a core part of the curriculum, allowing students to test theoretical models against real chemical behavior and to gain familiarity with instrumentation used in process industries. The field requires careful attention to safety, efficiency, and environmental impact, given the scale and hazards often associated with chemical production. Graduates pursue careers in petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage manufacturing, energy production, and materials development, working as process engineers, plant engineers, or in research and development roles. The training also supports further academic study in chemical, environmental, or materials engineering, as well as transitions into project management within technical industries. This bachelor's program runs for 4 years and is taught in English at Üsküdar University, located in İstanbul, Turkey. Over four years, the curriculum builds from foundational science and mathematics toward specialized process engineering and plant design coursework, generally supported by laboratory and design-based assignments. English-medium instruction allows students to work directly with international technical standards and reference materials used throughout the chemical process industry. Located in İstanbul, a major Turkish industrial and commercial hub, the program offers proximity to a range of process-based industries relevant to chemical engineering practice.
