It includes 20 weeks of hands-on practicum work across different communities. The focus is on building strong relationships and practical skills for real-world roles in child and youth care.

Topics include mental health, trauma-informed care, and family support. Learning happens through classroom instruction and full-time practicum placements. Each practicum lasts six to seven weeks. One placement must be outside the Lethbridge area. Shifts vary, including evenings and weekends, to cover different service environments.

The program begins in September or January. English language requirements must be met. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Graduates qualify for transfer credit toward several bachelor's degrees at partner universities. They are ready for entry-level roles in Alberta's child and youth care sector.
