FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg

Master in Chinese Studies with an Optional Focus (MA)

Erlangen, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The MA in Chinese Studies with an Optional Focus at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is a four-semester, research-oriented programme that combines Chinese studies with a chosen specialisation. It accepts intakes in both the winter and summer semester and is taught in English. The Chinese studies component covers Chinese history and literature, global history, history of science and technology, and the history of cultural exchange between Chinese-speaking countries and the West. Students pair this with one of several specialisations: English and American Studies, History, Sinology, Economics, or Political Science. Intensive Chinese language classes, including academic translation of Chinese texts, are an essential part of the programme. At least half of the total 120 ECTS credits are devoted to Chinese studies courses, and 30 ECTS credits go toward the Master's thesis. The remaining credits depend on the chosen specialisation. The programme is based at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, in Erlangen, Germany.
