Diploma of College Studies (DEC)

The tuition fee is 393 CAD for the whole program, while the application deadline for the Sep 2027 intake is Aug 31, 2027.

This programme is a college-level cinema option that focuses on hands-on filmmaking from the first session. Students learn to write, shoot, and edit their own short films throughout four sessions. They gain experience in cinematography, sound design, special effects, and documentary work. The curriculum includes real-world projects such as producing films for clients and participating in film festivals.

Students work in small groups of up to 20 people for practical workshops in filming and editing. They study film history, visual arts, narrative structure, and media practices. Courses cover both theory and technical skills, including camera operation, lighting, sound recording, and post-production. Students also take part in events like the Montreal International Documentary Festival and the Berlin Film Festival.

Admission is only in the fall term. No prerequisites are required. The programme costs approximately $393 for the first year, covering registration, general and specific course materials. Students must apply through the regional admission service (SRAM).
