About PhD in Clinical Exercise Science (CES)

The Clinical Exercise Science programme at the University of Potsdam is a combined Master's and doctoral track studying the use of physical activity in prevention and rehabilitation. The programme distinguishes between clinical applications for patients and the role of physical activity in health, popular, and professional sports. The curriculum covers medical training therapy and high-performance physiology alongside theoretical, methodological, and experimental fundamentals. Professionally oriented segments are conducted in cooperation with hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, outpatient rehabilitation centres, and Olympic training facilities, where students may also take on tutoring and mentoring work. The Master's component runs over 4 semesters; the doctoral component extends to 8 semesters. Both begin in the winter semester. The Master's degree aims at interdisciplinary, scientific, and career-oriented cooperation across health science professions, while the doctoral strand prepares graduates for careers in research and teaching. The programme is offered at the University of Potsdam in Potsdam, Germany.
