The Master's degree programme in Computer Science at Leibniz University Hannover runs over 4 semesters and allows students to expand their knowledge across a broad selection of specialisation areas, including computational health informatics, knowledge-based systems, data science and digital libraries, visual analytics, scientific data management, database and information systems, empirical information security, machine learning, natural language processing, software engineering, human-computer interaction, usable security and privacy, real-time systems, systems and computer architecture, dependable and scalable software systems, digital education, didactics of computer science, and theoretical computer science. Students may also take a subsidiary subject, basic computer science courses, and an industrial placement. Three optional thematic focuses are offered: Data Science, Human-Centred Computing, and System-Related Computer Science; completing at least 45 CP (excluding the thesis) in one of these areas earns a corresponding faculty certificate. The Studium Generale component provides transferable skills in areas such as foreign languages and presentation. The programme concludes with a master's thesis in the fourth semester.
