About Master in Computer Science

The MSc in Computer Science at the University of Siegen is a full computer science programme covering theoretical foundations, practical skills, and application areas including software engineering, information systems, databases, machine learning, communication and security, algorithms, and programming. Students select one of three study foci: Visual Computing, Embedded Systems, or Complex and Intelligent Software Systems. The 4-semester programme begins in the winter semester. The programme structure combines core modules (students choose four of six, each 6 CP), practical and research-oriented modules including Cutting Edge Research (6 CP), Scientific Working (9 CP), and project work (15 CP), six specialised modules (6 CP each) from the chosen study focus, and a Master's thesis (30 CP). The Visual Computing focus covers computer vision, computer graphics, image processing, machine learning, visualisation, and virtual/augmented reality. Embedded Systems covers hardware/software design, real-time systems, dependability, and security with applications in automotive and industrial control. Complex and Intelligent Software Systems addresses software development, machine learning, software quality assurance, and project management.
