Bachelor in Conservation and Restoration (BA)

Students in the Conservation and Restoration (BA) programme at FH Potsdam begin by understanding complex interrelationships in the conservation of (architectural) monuments, learning the basics of wood, stone, and mural painting, and gaining insights into architecture, urban planning, and civil engineering, led by professors and experts such as Ioannis Savvidis and Prof. Dr. Steffen Laue.

This programme, which offers a 7 semester, 210 ECTS course, is for those interested in preserving and restoring historical art and cultural assets such as wall paintings, monuments, sculptures, furniture, and buildings. The programme's commitment to environmentally friendly and sustainable practices ensures the long-lasting preservation of these objects. Students also engage in a mid-study internship in institutions and workshops, benefiting from numerous cooperations with institutions and companies in Germany and abroad, which provide valuable opportunities for collaboration.

The programme then allows students to specialise in the conservation of wood, stone, or mural painting, deepening their understanding of scientific methods and the preservation of built heritage, art, and restoration history.
