This one-year certificate program readies students for jobs in residential and light commercial construction. Students learn framing, roof construction, stairs, foundations, and how to calculate material and labour costs. Training happens in a 6,500 sq. ft. shop and an 1,800 sq. ft. teaching house used for renovation and building projects. Students also complete community-based capstone projects.

Students study safety, construction plans, surveying, estimating, sustainable building practices, interior and exterior finishing, and business skills for the trades. Courses cover tools, materials, building codes, drywall, trim, roofing, insulation, and energy efficiency. Practical work uses power tools such as table saws, drill presses, and compound mitre saws.
