As one of the UK’s longest-running criminology departments with over 50 years of expertise, this programme offers a distinctive, research-led education. Students benefit from:

• Practical Facilities: Access to a dedicated campus crime scene room to bridge theoretical knowledge with forensic investigation.
• Industry Integration: Direct partnerships with Humberside Police, the youth justice board, and victim support services, including an annual Crime and Social Justice careers event.
• Specialist Teaching: Instruction from experts researching contemporary challenges like cyber-terrorism, modern-day slavery, predictive policing, and state crime.
• Applied Learning: Extensive field trips to prisons, courts, and police control centres, alongside opportunities for professional placements.

The curriculum is designed for those who wish to move beyond surface-level narratives to investigate the causes, consequences, and potential solutions to crime and harm in a globalised, late-modern society.
