At DMU, you will study crime, justice, and social change at the home of the UK’s only UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 Global Hub. This programme invites you to examine the impact of crime on society and empowers you to question, challenge, and reshape the systems that surround it. By bringing together sociology, law, philosophy, and social policy, the course deepens your understanding of criminology in today’s world—locally, nationally, and globally.

A Unique Learning Environment

You will benefit from an innovative block teaching approach, where you study one module at a time. This method allows for regular assessments instead of end-of-year exam pressure and provides a stable, supportive environment where you work with the same peers and tutor for each block. Beyond the classroom, you have access to global opportunities through the DMU Global programme, which has previously taken students to study state crime at Auschwitz, subcultures in Chicago, and genetic education in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Graduates from this programme have gone on to thrive in impactful roles such as detective constables, probation service officers, and business analysts, working with organizations like His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service and the Metropolitan Police Service. Whether you are interested in restorative justice, animal criminology, or the study of mass atrocities, you will be taught by active researchers with strong professional links to organizations like the British Society of Criminology.
