About Critical Care Nursing, PGCert/GradCert

On the module Assessment and Monitoring of Critical Care Patients you will critically evaluate anatomy and physiology to support rapid assessment and continuous monitoring of critically ill patients. The programme blends this module with Current Contexts of Critical Care Practice and Managing the Care Delivery of Critical Care Patients, giving you a structured exposure to policy, ethical, legal and practical aspects of intensive care nursing.

Weekly sessions combine lectures, interactive technology, skill demonstrations and reflective activities, so you regularly practice assessment techniques, discuss case studies and develop personal development plans. Learning is supported by a teaching team linked to the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine and the Lancashire and South Cumbria Critical Care and Major Trauma Network, ensuring current research underpins the content.

  • Three compulsory modules covering assessment, contexts and care delivery (HI4808, HI4809, HI4810)
