About Cytotechnology

This two-year on-campus diploma program is delivered full-time with a hands-on approach. Students learn to diagnose disease by studying cell morphology under a microscope. The curriculum includes classroom instruction, lab work, and 46 weeks of clinical practicum. Each year four students are accepted into the program.

Focus areas include gynecologic cytopathology, respiratory cytopathology, aspiration cytopathology, hematology, immunology, molecular biology.

Two years, full-time, 46 weeks of clinical practicum, six separate practicums.

Graduates can work as cytotechnologists in hospital or private clinical laboratories across Canada.

Grade 12 with 70% in Foundations of Math 30 or Pre-Calculus 30 and each science; English Language Arts 30; minimum 70% in required courses; English language requirement as per Program-Specific ELP Requirements; Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search; immunization records; N95 respirator mask testing; WHMIS 2015 GHS certification; TLR® or SMART® certification; attendance at an informational meeting with program personnel.

On-campus, full-time, two years.
