The Data Scientist (Degree Apprenticeship) combines mathematics, statistics, software engineering, communication and domain-specific knowledge to extract insights and value from data. This programme is offered over three years full-time at the Ipswich campus, leading to a BSc (Hons) Data Science (Degree Apprenticeship). Students will develop a solid programming toolkit for problem-solving, including Python and R syntax, and tools for professional software development, such as version control and AI-assisted coding, in a programme that begins with the Programming Fundamentals and Developer Tools module. They will learn to transform raw data into compelling evidence for driving business decision-making, and to handle data ethically, continually seek new techniques and tools, and perform statistical analysis and build models to achieve organisational goals. As well as these core competencies, apprentices will also cover advanced AI, DevOps, and Big Data and Cloud Computing, with the final year culminating in a Data Science Project and the Apprenticeship Assessment.
