About Dental Assisting

At Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Saskatoon, tuition is $16,190 for the 2026-27 academic year.

The program is grounded in evidence-based practice and theory-to-practice methodology. Students learn to support dental professionals in clinical and administrative tasks. They develop skills in chair-side assistance, intra-oral procedures, and patient education. Training includes hands-on experience in a supervised dental clinic environment.

One year, full-time, on-campus. Includes clinical practicum and weekly hands-on training in the on-campus dental clinic.

Graduates work as registered dental assistants in private dental offices, community health clinics, educational facilities, and healthcare institutions.

Grade 12 with minimum 70% in Biology 30, a 30-level English Language Arts, and the highest grade in either Foundations of Math 20, Foundations of Math 30, or Pre-Calculus 30. English language requirement: IELTS 6.0 overall or equivalent. Applicants must provide current First Aid and CPR Level C with AED, WHMIS certification, criminal record check, vulnerable sector check, and proof of immunizations.

On-campus, full-time, one year.
