Diploma of College Studies (DEC)

Training prepares for work as a dental hygienist in clinical and public health settings. The programme has six sessions and runs Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Two types of placements are required: one in public dental health and one in a structured clinical setting. These placements make up 28% of the training.

Practical skills include scaling and polishing teeth, taking dental X-rays, creating care plans, and teaching patients about oral hygiene. Courses cover anatomy, microbiology, pathology, nutrition, and communication. Training occurs in a modern clinic with digital equipment, intraoral cameras, and computerized scheduling systems.

Admission is only in the fall. High school science courses or equivalent are required. The average cost for the first year is $1,193, including registration fees and program materials. The application deadline for the fall 2026 session has passed.
