The MSc in Developmental, Neural and Behavioural Biology at the University of Göttingen is a four-semester, research-oriented programme taught entirely in English. It covers three interconnected areas: developmental and cell biology, neurobiology, and behavioural biology, with opportunities for in-depth specialisation within each. The programme opens with core modules in the first and second semesters, including lectures, seminars, and methods courses that build subject and methodological foundations. Students then move into laboratory rotations, carrying out individually organised research projects. University-wide and cross-faculty modules are also available for developing job-related competencies. The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis, which is typically embedded in a third-party funded research project. Lecturers are scientists collaborating with the university, the German Primate Centre, and several Max Planck Institutes. The programme spans topics from cellular functions to cognitive performance and requires prior knowledge in the desired specialisation area. There is a fast-track option to consecutive PhD programmes within the faculty. The programme is offered at the University of Göttingen, with entry in the winter semester.
