The Doctoral Program in Molecular Medicine at Itä-Suomen yliopisto covers research spanning from basic laboratory sciences and diagnostics through to applied clinical research. The program organizes its work across six research areas: cardiovascular diseases, neurosciences, type 2 diabetes and obesity, stem cell research, inflammatory diseases, and cancer. To earn the doctoral degree, candidates must complete a defined set of studies in the degree structure — covering both transferable skills and discipline-specific coursework — and submit an approved doctoral thesis. The program runs over four years. The program is based in Kuopio, Finland, at Itä-Suomen yliopisto.
