How does performance reflect and reshape the social, political, and cultural landscapes we inhabit? The BA in Drama at Queen’s University Belfast explores this question by bridging the gap between rigorous academic inquiry and professional creative practice. Set within a city renowned for its rich theatrical heritage and internationally acclaimed playwrights, this programme provides students with a dynamic environment to interrogate theatre history, acting theory, and contemporary performance.

Students benefit from a highly practical curriculum supported by world-class facilities, most notably the Brian Friel Theatre. The programme is designed to foster both independent research and collaborative creation, with modules spanning applied theatre, theatre in education, and the intersection of drama with fields such as psychology, medicine, and social science. By integrating industry-responsive training—including workshops, guest lectures, and professional work-based placements—the course ensures that graduates are not only intellectually prepared but also equipped with the technical and professional skills to thrive in the modern performing arts sector.
