Master in Electrical Engineering (Electronics Design or Communication Engineering)

This Master's programme trains students in the theoretical foundations and practical skills of microelectronics design and communication systems. Subject areas include analogue and digital integrated circuits, semiconductor physics, photonics, embedded systems, digital communications, and high-frequency engineering. Students select one of two specialisations taught in English: Electronics Design and Technology (EDT) or Communication Engineering. The EDT specialisation covers the design of micro and nano electronics devices and circuits, including VLSI integrated circuits, photonic systems, and sensory systems such as digital camera technology. Application areas span automotive, biomedical electronics, robotics, and computer games. The Communication Engineering specialisation focuses on analysis and design of communication systems, with particular interest in sensorics, optical communication, and digital communication. Both tracks include non-technical skills training covering presentation techniques, teamwork, management, and leadership. The programme runs over four semesters beginning in the winter semester, and students may participate in ongoing research projects or complete their Master's thesis within one of the university's research areas.
