Electrical Engineering at Università degli Studi di Cagliari is a master's degree program taught in English over two years, based in Cagliari, on the island of Sardinia in Italy. Electrical engineering is concerned with the study and application of electricity, electromagnetism and electronics, covering the generation, transmission and control of electrical power as well as the design of electrical and electronic systems and devices. At the graduate level, students typically build on foundational knowledge of circuit theory, electromagnetic fields and signal processing to study more advanced subjects such as power systems, control systems, electrical machines, renewable energy technologies, and electronic instrumentation. Depending on the specialization offered, coursework can also extend into areas like automation, embedded systems, or the integration of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind into electrical grids. Because electrical engineering underlies most modern infrastructure and technology, from power generation to consumer electronics and industrial automation, graduates from this field are prepared for careers spanning energy companies, manufacturing, telecommunications, automotive and electronics industries, in roles such as design engineer, power systems engineer, automation engineer or research and development specialist. Some pursue further academic study, including doctoral research connected to energy systems, electronics or control theory. Studying this master's program in English at Università degli Studi di Cagliari allows international students to pursue advanced technical training while based in Cagliari, with admission open to holders of a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification.
