Electronic Fire & Security Systems

The Electronic Fire & Security Systems program at Belfast Metropolitan College is a non-degree apprenticeship for students who want to work in the security industry. It lasts 4 years and is taught in English. This program combines classroom instruction with on-the-job training.

Students learn about electrical and electronic principles, intruder alarm systems, and CCTV. They attend college for two days in the first year and one day in the second year, with extensive on-the-job training. This structure helps students develop essential skills and a strong portfolio.

Graduates can become Security Alarm Installers or Security Systems Service Engineers. They can work for companies that specialize in security systems, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting systems. The skills they acquire are transferable across multiple industries.
