Immerse yourself in a programme shaped by a city where literary heritage meets modern innovation. From the medieval period to the contemporary movements of #MeToo and Black Lives Matter, this course invites you to explore how literature and language influence public opinion and address the most pressing social, political, and environmental challenges of our time.

A Dynamic Literary Environment

You will study in a region with deep ties to renowned figures such as Andrew Marvell, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Phillip Larkin, while gaining hands-on experience in a thriving writing community. Our students actively shape the literary landscape, contributing to in-house magazines like Document 1 and Torchfire.

The curriculum is designed for those who want to understand the power of communication. Whether you are analysing the intersection of emotional intelligence and AI, or exploring the narratives of migration and movement, you are encouraged to value your own lived experiences. By engaging with diverse textual forms—from rare manuscripts dating back to 1473 to cutting-edge digital media—you will develop the critical, interpretive, and digital skills necessary to thrive in an evolving global society.
