İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı

English Language and Literature focuses on the critical study of literary works written in English alongside the structure, history, and use of the English language. Coursework typically spans poetry, drama, and fiction across historical periods, literary theory and criticism, and linguistics topics such as grammar, phonetics, and semantics, with an emphasis on close reading and analytical writing. Students often study major authors and literary movements comparatively and develop skills in argumentation and academic writing in English. The discipline builds strong interpretive, research, and communication abilities that apply broadly beyond literary study. Graduates commonly move into teaching, publishing, editing, translation, journalism, and communications roles, and some pursue graduate study in literature, linguistics, or education. The field suits students who enjoy reading widely, analyzing texts, and writing clearly and persuasively. This bachelor's program in English Language and Literature is offered at Çankırı Karatekin University in Çankırı, Turkey, and instruction is conducted in English across a four-year course of study. Because teaching takes place in English, students study literary texts and linguistic material directly in their original language, supporting close attention to style and expression. Over the four years, the curriculum typically introduces foundational literary periods and language study before moving toward more focused electives in areas such as modern literature or applied linguistics. Çankırı, in north-central Turkey, provides the setting for the university's humanities programs, and the English-medium format supports students pursuing further study or work involving English-language communication.
