İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı

English Language and Literature examines the English language and its literary traditions from historical and analytical perspectives. Coursework typically covers British and American literature, literary theory, linguistics, academic writing, and comparative literature, sharpening students' skills in close reading and written argumentation. Students study texts spanning multiple periods and genres, from early poetry and drama to contemporary fiction, learning to situate literary works within their historical, cultural, and political contexts. Seminar discussions encourage students to apply critical frameworks such as feminist, postcolonial, and structuralist theory to primary texts, building analytical flexibility. The program also strengthens students' command of English grammar, rhetoric, and composition through structured writing assignments and peer feedback. Coursework in linguistics introduces the structure and history of the English language itself, complementing the literary focus of the degree. Graduates commonly pursue careers in teaching, publishing, translation, media, and content writing, and many continue toward further graduate study in literature, applied linguistics, or comparative studies. This program is offered as a bachelor's degree taught in English over a duration of 4 years at Istanbul Gelişim University in İstanbul, Turkey Small-group instruction and applied coursework throughout the program give students regular opportunities to work directly with faculty and refine their skills before entering the workforce.
