İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı

English Language and Literature is the study of English-language texts, literary traditions, and the structure and use of the English language itself. Students typically study British, American, and other English-language literatures across different historical periods, alongside coursework in linguistics, literary theory, and critical analysis. The program develops close reading, analytical writing, and interpretive skills through the study of novels, poetry, drama, and other literary forms, while also building strong command of English language use. Some coursework may also address translation, language teaching methods, or comparative literary study, depending on the structure of the program. This bachelor's degree is offered at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University in Tokat, Turkey, with instruction delivered in English over a 4-year curriculum. Because the subject matter and the language of instruction are closely aligned, students are immersed in English throughout their studies, supporting both literary analysis skills and language proficiency. The program combines survey courses covering major literary periods and authors with more focused seminars on specific texts or themes. Graduates of the program can pursue careers in education, publishing, media, translation, and communications, or continue to graduate study in literature, linguistics, or related humanities fields. The strong emphasis on written and analytical English skills developed through the program also supports career paths in fields where clear communication and critical thinking are valued, beyond literature-specific roles.
