Master in English Linguistics

The University of Zurich offers a Master of Arts in English Linguistics. Instruction is in English. This program provides advanced students with flexibility to deepen their engagement with English linguistics. Students learn to develop research designs in specialized areas. They will debate and contribute to research in historical linguistics, English as a world language, and language acquisition. The program offers a broad range of courses, including Switzerland's only full professorship in English Historical Linguistics.

The program includes advanced writing and media studies modules. Graduates will acquire skills for independent scholarly work. Admission requires a Bachelor's degree in English Studies and C1 level English proficiency. English Linguistics must be combined with a second subject at UZH. German at C1 level may be required for the second subject. Further information on admission is available from the university.
