At the heart of the Brunel Centre for Contemporary Writing—home to the annual Hillingdon Literary Festival—this programme immerses you in a vibrant, global-majority campus where storytelling is treated as both a rigorous academic discipline and a vital human practice. The curriculum is designed for those who seek to bridge the gap between critical analysis and creative production, ensuring that your reading of Shakespeare or 19th-century realism directly informs your own experiments in fiction, poetry, and screenwriting.

You will work alongside staff who are active novelists, cultural critics, and playwrights, benefiting from an environment that prioritizes the 'writer’s toolkit'—the craft of planning, drafting, and collaborative workshopping. Unlike traditional literature degrees, this programme explicitly teaches you to navigate the complexities of the modern media landscape, from the implications of generative AI to the dynamics of the publishing industry.
