Mathematical rigour underpins the most advanced AI systems, and this microcredential provides the essential training to demystify how machine learning models operate in practice. Designed for early-career professionals and graduates, it bridges the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world implementation.

Core Mathematical Competencies

Participants develop a deep understanding of the language of AI. By focusing on linear algebra, probability, statistics, and optimisation, learners gain the tools necessary to evaluate, communicate, and apply AI methods effectively in professional technical contexts.

• Gain expertise in vectors, matrices, and the operations that drive modern AI.
• Master the calculus and optimisation techniques required for training sophisticated learning models.
• Apply probabilistic reasoning to manage uncertainty in data-driven environments.
• Connect abstract mathematical frameworks to practical, industry-standard AI techniques.

Queen's University Belfast is a historic and research-led university located in the heart of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Founded as Queen's College Belfast in 1845 and established as an independent university in 1908, Queen's combines a long heritage with modern ambitions.
