General Engineering Traineeship

The General Engineering Traineeship at Belfast Metropolitan College is a two-year program for students who want to work in engineering. This non-degree course is great for those who like hands-on work and want to learn practical skills. Students will get a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering, which gives them essential knowledge and experience in engineering disciplines.

Students will study handfitting, welding techniques, and the use of lathes and milling machines. They will also learn about health and safety, engineering materials, and project work. Practical assessments and online exams will help students develop their skills and confidence in real-world applications.

Graduates can work as Fitter Welders, Sheet Metal Workers, or Maintenance Welding Operatives. The skills they learn can be used in many industries, including advanced manufacturing and engineering. They may also be able to study further, such as a Level 3 Apprenticeship.
