About the Program

Geoinformatics and Spatial Data Science is a four-semester Master's programme at the Institute for Geoinformatics (ifgi) at the University of Münster, open for both winter and summer semester entry. The programme is designed for graduates with a Bachelor's degree in Geoinformatics or a related field and covers advanced techniques in machine learning for spatio-temporal data, remote sensing, spatial computing, and human-computer interaction, among other areas. The first two semesters combine coursework and projects across Spatial Data Science, spatio-temporal analysis, machine learning and computer vision, navigation and location-based services, spatial computing and digital twins, and the fundamentals of remote sensing and geospatial technologies. The third semester is devoted to an internship in industry, government, or research, or an exchange semester abroad. The programme closes with a one-semester Master's thesis. Students have the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary research projects and shape their own research interests through the thesis. The programme is taught in English and is based at the University of Münster in Münster, Germany.
