Master in Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics

The Master's programme in Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics at Stuttgart Technical University of Applied Sciences provides training in two closely related geospatial disciplines. In photogrammetry, the programme covers the full processing chain of aerial images: scanning, automated aerotriangulation, acquisition of digital elevation models, orthoimage generation, and topographic and thematic mapping, as well as data from high-resolution remote sensing satellites, radar, and airborne laser scanning. In geoinformatics, the core topics are acquisition, storage, analysis, retrieval, and display of spatially related data for both physical and built environments, including data modelling in GIS, database design, GIS data formats, GIS customisation and programming, web technologies, and 3D visualisation. The programme runs over three semesters. The first two semesters consist of intensive lectures and exercises, each structured into four core modules covering main subject areas and soft skills. Elective modules are offered in the second semester. Each semester concludes with two weeks of examinations. Between the first and second semesters, two two-week intensive training periods in GIS and photogrammetry take place. The third semester is devoted to a full-time research project and the Master's thesis, accompanied by a research seminar. Yearly tuition is 3,000 EUR. The programme is based at Stuttgart Technical University of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart, Germany.
