Global Culinary Arts at Woosong University in Daejeon, South Korea, trains students in the techniques and knowledge needed to work professionally in kitchens and food production. The curriculum typically covers cooking techniques, food safety and sanitation, menu planning, ingredient science, and kitchen management, alongside practical training in preparing dishes across different culinary traditions. Students spend significant time in kitchen laboratories developing knife skills, cooking methods, and plating techniques, while also learning about food costing, inventory management, and the operational side of running a professional kitchen. Because the program has a global orientation, coursework often introduces students to cuisines and cooking traditions from multiple regions, building versatility that is valuable in international hospitality and food service settings. Students also typically study nutrition, food science, and the sourcing and handling of ingredients, giving them a foundation that extends beyond cooking technique into the broader science and business of food. Graduates of culinary arts programs pursue careers as chefs, kitchen managers, food and beverage professionals, and culinary product developers, working in restaurants, hotels, catering companies, and food production businesses. Some graduates go on to open their own restaurants or food businesses, applying both the technical cooking skills and the management training gained during their studies. The global food service and hospitality industry offers career paths that can extend across countries, particularly for graduates trained with international cuisine exposure and English-language communication skills. This bachelor's degree takes four years to complete, with intakes in March and September, and instruction is delivered in English.
