About Bachelor in Global Environmental and Sustainability Sciences (BSc)

Global Environmental and Sustainability Sciences is a six-semester bachelor's programme taught in English at Leuphana University Lüneburg. The programme approaches sustainability challenges from multiple disciplinary perspectives, combining natural and social science foundations including mathematics, statistics, ecology, environmental chemistry, sustainability communication, sustainability management, and sustainability governance. Students begin with the Leuphana Semester, which introduces methodological and disciplinary fundamentals in environmental and sustainability studies. From the second semester onward, the programme comprises a major in Global Environmental and Sustainability Sciences alongside a minor chosen by the student and complementary studies drawn from other disciplines. Students can also select from a broad range of electives across the social and natural sciences to build an individual profile. An internationally oriented interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary sustainability research project is part of the curriculum, carried out in collaboration with external partners. The programme is open primarily to students from EU and EEA countries; five percent of study places are available to students from outside the EU and EEA. It is located at Leuphana University Lüneburg in Lüneburg, Germany.
