Heavy Equipment Technician

Students perform maintenance and repair tasks on heavy equipment used in mining, forestry, construction, and agriculture. They conduct engine overhauls, hydraulic system repairs, and use specialized tools in hands-on lab and workshop settings. Practical exercises include diagnosing mechanical problems and working in real-world environments through apprenticeship activities. The program prepares students for technical roles in the heavy equipment industry.

4 semesters, on campus, no co-op or practicum stated.

Graduates enter careers in mining, construction, public works, forestry, and agriculture.

Motive Power Techniques - Heavy Equipment certificate (2 semesters) or equivalent, OR Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), ACE certificate, or equivalent. Requires 1 French credit and 1 mathematics credit. International applicants must submit English language proficiency test results unless they will receive their OSSD before classes start.

On campus, full-time, 4 semesters.
