About Master in Human Medicine

The University of Zurich offers a Master's degree in Humanmedizin. This program focuses on the interaction between illness and health in humans. It builds on knowledge from natural and human sciences. Students gain medical knowledge and essential medical skills. The Master's program in Humanmedizin at UZH is the largest in Switzerland. It is modular, practical, and interdisciplinary. Students benefit from four university hospitals and over thirty other teaching hospitals. The program allows students to set individual priorities. Areas of focus include surgery, primary care, clinical epidemiology, medical informatics, patient safety, pain management, palliative medicine, and biomedical research.

Graduates of the Master's in Humanmedizin are eligible for the Federal Examination Human Medicine (FEHM). This examination is required for postgraduate medical training. After completing the program, most graduates work as physicians in hospitals or private practices. Other career paths include biomedical research, the pharmaceutical industry, medical technology, and health administration.

Entry requirements include a Bachelor in Medicine or equivalent. A Bachelor in Medicine (St.Galler Track) or (Luzerner Track) is also accepted. Applicants must demonstrate German language proficiency at C1 level. Further information on admission is available.
