Independent Living

The Independent Living program at Bedford College is a one-year, non-degree course for learners with special educational needs and/or disabilities. It helps students aged 16 to 25 develop life skills in a supportive environment, making it ideal for those seeking to improve their independence.

The curriculum focuses on functional Maths and English, social communication, and community engagement. Students participate in a personalized program with small group sizes, allowing them to progress at their own pace and work towards an Entry Level Certificate in Independent Living.

Graduates can pursue roles such as support worker, community outreach coordinator, or personal assistant. They can also adapt to various roles in the community and workplace, with transferable skills gained during the program.
