Industrial Design focuses on creating functional, aesthetically considered products that meet user needs, blending creativity with engineering and manufacturing knowledge. Coursework typically covers design methodology, ergonomics, materials and manufacturing processes, 3D modeling, sketching, and prototyping, alongside studio projects that take products from concept to finished design. Students learn to research user needs, develop design concepts, build physical and digital prototypes, and present design solutions to stakeholders. The field sits between art, engineering, and business, and graduates pursue careers as product designers, design consultants, or work in-house for manufacturing and consumer goods companies developing new products. This bachelor's program in Industrial Design is offered at Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul, Turkey, with instruction delivered in English over 4 years. The curriculum is studio-based, combining hands-on prototyping with theoretical coursework in design thinking and manufacturing processes. Istanbul's active design and manufacturing sectors provide students opportunities to engage with industry practices during their studies. Students also develop skills in visual communication, model-making, and collaborative design work, which mirror professional design studio environments. By graduation, students have a portfolio of design projects and the technical and conceptual skills needed to enter the product design profession.
