Industrial Engineering focuses on designing, improving, and managing complex systems that combine people, materials, information, equipment, and energy. Coursework typically covers operations research, production planning, quality management, supply chain and logistics, ergonomics, facility layout, statistics, and systems simulation, alongside foundational engineering and mathematics courses. Students learn to apply optimization techniques and data analysis to increase efficiency and reduce waste in manufacturing, service, and logistics settings, often through project work that mirrors real industrial problems. The field bridges technical engineering knowledge with management principles, so coursework often also touches on cost analysis, project management, and process improvement methodologies.
