Half of the learning takes place in the workshops, where students spend 50 % of their time using the same tools and machinery found in oil-and-gas, mining and manufacturing plants, giving them immediate exposure to industry standards.

The one-year certificate is delivered on the Prince Albert, Regina and Saskatoon campuses. In the first term students cover basic math, drafting, blueprint reading and welding, while the second term adds pumps, pipe-fitting, mechanical components and a two-week work-experience placement.

Graduates are prepared for roles such as industrial mechanic or millwright in sectors that require installation, repair, overhaul and maintenance of stationary machinery. Completion may also count toward apprenticeship credit or provide a pathway to a Bachelor of Applied Management.
