Bachelor in Interior Design BA (Hons)

Tuition fees are 19,500 GBP per year.

Interior design explores how the arrangement, materials and lighting of built environments affect people’s wellbeing, productivity and aesthetic perception. Students engage with drawing, CAD and 3D modelling to translate ideas into detailed proposals. The BA (Hons) programme examines these questions through theory, history and hands-on experimentation.

Graduates pursue roles as interior designers in residential, commercial, hospitality and retail sectors, join architectural practices, become visualisation or CAD specialists, or launch their own studios. Employers include IKEA, Lumenata, Concept Design Associates and regional design agencies. The course also prepares graduates for further study or professional registration, with a strong portfolio development component that showcases creativity and technical competence.

A distinctive feature is the integration of studio-based modules such as Design Context 1, which analyses cultural and professional practice, alongside live industry projects – for example a workshop delivered by Crown Paints – that develop project management and problem-solving skills. Throughout the three years, students progress from foundational drawing and building anatomy to a final interior design project that synthesises research, site analysis and design development.
