Master in International and Comparative Law

The University of Zurich offers a Master of Law (MLaw UZH) in International and Comparative Law. This program allows students to deepen their knowledge in international and comparative legal fields. Students can continue their studies in English. The program aims to enhance legal skills for an international work environment. Students may spend one to two semesters at another university abroad to broaden their international knowledge.

Graduates are prepared for careers with European or international institutions, global companies, or government and non-governmental organizations with international ties. Admission to the Zurich bar exam is possible with this degree. However, the program focuses on international law and comparative aspects, not specifically on Swiss district court internships or subjects tested in the Zurich bar exams. Students wishing to take the cantonal bar exam must independently deepen their knowledge of Swiss law.

Admission requires a Bachelor of Law (BLaw) or an equivalent degree from a Swiss university. A BLaw from a foreign university may be accepted with possible conditions. English language proficiency at C1 level may be required. Further information on admission is available.
