The Molecular Medicine programme at Charité covers the molecular biology of disease from both a research and a clinical perspective. Core thematic modules address human genetics and developmental genetics, functional genomics, infections and immune response, cardiovascular disease and pharmacology, molecular mechanisms of cancer, and the endocrine system. Alongside these, four modules develop scientific skills: statistics, critical thinking in translational medicine, scientific writing, and experimental design. The programme runs over 4 semesters, starting in the winter semester, and combines module-based coursework with substantial laboratory work. Mornings are spent in lectures and tutorials; afternoons take place in active research laboratories at the Charité. The programme includes two laboratory rotations of 16 weeks each, at 20 hours per week, and a six-month Master's thesis research project. Lab work contributes to current research and in many cases leads to publication. The programme comprises 120 credits and approximately 3,600 hours of study.
