The Master's programme in Population-Based Medicine at the University of Tübingen trains students in the methods and frameworks used to study health distributions within and across populations. Population-based medicine covers all aspects of community medical care, from primary prevention to tertiary care, and relies on large datasets and epidemiological and statistical methods to identify patterns in disease and health across populations. The programme targets students who seek outstanding methodological knowledge and interdisciplinary expertise to address the range of factors that influence health and disease. The four-semester programme is structured around four features: an interdisciplinary and interprofessional approach incorporating behavioural, biological, social, and mental dimensions of health; a strong focus on empirical and synthesis research methods; individual mentorship throughout; and a third-semester practicum providing practical experience in population-based medicine. The first and second semesters consist of full-time courses. The fourth semester is devoted to the Master's thesis. Work placement in the third semester may influence the choice of thesis topic. Admission is limited to twenty places, awarded based on qualifications, experience, and a selection interview covering professional knowledge, aptitude, motivation, communication, analytical skills, English language ability, and competencies in methods and statistics. The programme starts in the winter semester and is offered at the University of Tübingen, located in Tübingen, Germany.
