Relazioni Internazionali e Cooperazione allo Sviluppo

International relations and development cooperation combines the study of how states and international actors interact with a focus on the practical work of supporting economic and social development, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Students typically study international relations theory, development economics, and the operations of international cooperation agencies, alongside topics such as humanitarian aid, project design, and the evaluation of development programs. Coursework often draws on real cases from development and cooperation work, helping students connect theoretical frameworks with the practical challenges of implementing programs across different political and economic contexts. This program in International Relations and Development Cooperation is offered at the master's level by Universita per Stranieri di PERUGIA, located in Perugia, Italy, and is taught in English. It runs for two years, the standard length for master's degrees within the European system, allowing students to build a foundation in international relations before moving into more specialized study of development cooperation. Graduates typically pursue careers with international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies involved in foreign aid and development policy. Others move into roles with humanitarian organizations, research institutions studying development issues, or private sector companies working on cooperation projects funded by governments or international bodies. Some continue into further study or research focused on development economics or international relations. Because the field combines political analysis with practical program and project skills, graduates are often prepared for roles that require coordinating across governments, agencies, and local communities, applying both theoretical understanding and hands-on project management skills to development challenges around the world.
