International relations / Relazioni Internazionali

Tuition comes to 295 EUR per year.

International Relations examines how states, international organizations, and other actors interact on the global stage, covering topics such as diplomacy, foreign policy, international law, security studies, and global political economy. Coursework in the field typically includes the history of international politics, theories of international relations, comparative politics, and the study of specific regions or issue areas such as conflict resolution, human rights, or international trade. Students develop skills in political analysis, research, and writing, along with an understanding of the institutions that shape global governance, from the United Nations to regional organizations and multinational agreements. This master's degree in International Relations is offered by Università degli Studi di Palermo in Palermo, Italy, and is taught in English. It is a two-year program, consistent with the standard structure of a second-cycle degree in the Italian higher education system, and generally follows an undergraduate degree in political science, international studies, or a related field. Graduates of international relations programs pursue careers in diplomacy, international organizations, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, journalism, and the private sector, in roles that involve policy analysis, advocacy, international development, or cross-border business and trade. The discipline also serves as preparation for further academic study, including doctoral research in political science or international studies. Because international relations deals with complex, often fast-changing global issues, the field places emphasis on critical analysis, cultural and political awareness, and the ability to interpret events within broader historical and institutional contexts.
