Language Proficiency Assessment

Tuition is 250 USD per year; the application deadline for the Sep 2027 intake is Apr 1, 2027.

The Language Proficiency Assessment at BFF Bern is designed for individuals seeking Swiss citizenship who need to demonstrate their German language skills. This program is ideal for non-native speakers aiming to meet the language requirements for naturalization in the German-speaking part of Bern. The assessment is conducted exclusively in German and evaluates both written and spoken proficiency.

Participants will undergo a structured evaluation that includes both a written test at the A2 level and an oral test at the B1 level. This dual approach ensures that candidates can effectively communicate in German, which is essential for integration into Swiss society. The assessment takes place on Saturday mornings, providing flexibility for working individuals.

Graduates of the Language Proficiency Assessment can pursue various pathways, including applying for Swiss citizenship or enhancing their employment opportunities in German-speaking environments. Skills acquired through this program are transferable to roles in customer service, education, and community engagement, making it a valuable step for those looking to establish themselves in Switzerland.
